Badminton World Championships August 2011 - London - Wembley Arena

As a treat for our 4 years wedding anniversary, we bought tickets for the Badminton Worlds, in London. As Badminton England members, we also took advantage of a free offer in the first day of the Worlds, which means we attended on the first and last day of the Championships. On the first day, we also took Maria and our badminton friend, Karyn. Here are some pictures from the event.

First day at the Wembley Arena
Not a very popular event. If it was a football match, the streets would have been flooded with people.
Thumbs up for badminton and the excellent day spent in the arena
 Time to go home

In the final day, the most interesting and spectacular match was the Men's Single Final, between Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia (in this picture) and Lin Dan from China. Lin Dan won, but it was a very intensive and close game. The Chinese took all 5 titles on the day, but it was good to see a British couple in the final of Mixed Doubles.

One Day at Peppa Pig World

Last weekend, our friends, Dawn, Kevin and their lovely daughter Emily came to visit us. We planned to take the girls to Peppa Pig World, which is part of Paultons Park. The girls loved it. As I am getting quite heavily pregnant (less than 3 months to go), I was able to enjoy some of the rides with Maria, but daddy took her in most of them.

Waving from the boat. This seems quite a gentle one, so I will give it a try with Maria later, too.
Giving High 5 to George (Peppa's brother)
 George is talking to Maria
Mr Tumble, the well-known character from the "Something Special" show was at the park and entertained the little ones for half an hour. It was very special and Maria loved every minute of it. There she is at the end of the show, clapping her hands, while Justin Fletcher is waving Good Bye to all
On the boat again, this time with mummy
 On the train ride
 With daddy on the Dinosaur
Maria and Emily watching the penguins just before their feeding time

The day after, we took Emily and her mummy and daddy geo-caching in our neighborhood. We had a nice time and the girls were very good walking together.

London to Brighton Bike Ride

Will's brother, Edward tried to convince Will he could do with him the London to Brighton bike ride. I was quite concerned and worried, as I wasn't sure if Will had enough practice and his knees would not be hurt after that, but they proved the opposite. An early morning for both of them and dad Peter who took them in Haywards Heath where they picked up the bus to London for 7am start. We saw them on the way to Brighton, when they passed very close to Will's parents house. Here are some pictures from the event. Well done Will and Ed!
